MEMBER INFORMATION

 Dues Reminder

The annual Chapter and Society dues for most of us are due around the first of the year.  New Designees in 2007 are automatically members until the end of the calendar year  in which they received their designation.  The 2007 new designees were automatically paid members until January 1, and then their memberships are up for renewal.   Everyone will receive a membership dues statement in the mail, however the dues can be paid either by check or on-line with a credit card.

Most companies pay the CPCU's dues each year for their members.  This money (which is less than many other professional organizations) supports education, programs, and leadership for both the Society and the Chapter.  Please be sure you take care of this matter as soon as you receive your bill.  If you have been considering not paying your dues because you don't think you will be able to attend a lot of meetings or be active in the chapter, please pay your dues to support the CPCU organization and enable programs and work to continue for other CPCUs and those working to achieve their designation and the insurance industry.

 Monthly Luncheon Meeting

Dallas Chapter CPCU Society

March 18, 2008

Monthly Luncheon Meeting

March is Ethics Awareness Month for all CPCUs.  Please join us on March 18 to hear our guest speaker Gerard "Jerry" Fazio.  Jerry is an attorney at Martindale Hubbell and was recently selected by his peers , and named in D magazine, as one of the "Best Lawyers in Dallas" in the area of personal injury law.

Also, we will be nominating and voting for the Slate of Officers and Board Members  for the Dallas Chapter for the 2008-2009 Year.   This is your chance to have your voice heard.  If you are interested in serving the Chapter, please contact Maureen McLendon at Maureen.M@IRMI.com .

Immediately following our luncheon the Dallas Chapter is sponsoring a 2 hour ethics course.  The course has been approved for 2 hours CE credit.  To register (required) for the course please contact Edwin Wells at edwin.wells@americafirst-ins.com .  The course will be held at the Doubletree, we will announce the exact location at the luncheon.

Also, please note a pricing change for Lunch.  All paid Chapter members remain at $25.00 for lunch.  All non-members will be charged $40.00.  We continue to encourage you to bring interested candidates to the luncheon  as your guest.

This will be a busy meeting and everyone is encouraged to attend.  Please contact Joan.Fitzsimmons.bdli@statefarm.com to make your reservations or go to our website and register online

Ethics is not definable, is not implementable, because it is not conscious; it involves not only our thinking, but also our feeling.

Valdemar W. Setzer

ETHICS QUOTES

When I do good, I feel good; when I do bad, I feel bad.  That’s my religion.  (Abraham Lincoln)

Ethics, too, are nothing but reverence for life.  This is what gives [us] the fundamental principle of morality, namely, that good consists in maintaining, promoting, and enhancing life, and that destroying, injuring, and limiting life are evil.  (Albert Schweitzer)

Neither fire nor wind, birth nor death can erase our good deeds.  (Buddha)

Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.  (Cicero)

Always do right – this will gratify some and astonish the rest.  (Mark Twain)

Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws.  (Plato)

Associate with men of good quality, if you esteem your own reputation; for it is better to be alone than in bad company.  (George Washington)

To educate a person in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society.  (Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt)

A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.  (Proverbs 22:1)

Leadership is a potent combination of strategy and character.  But if you must be without one, be without the strategy.  (General H. Norman Schwarzkopf)

A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both.  (Dwight D. Eisenhower)

Ethics – Everyone – Every Day!!!!!
